So What is DEFORESTATION?

Deforestation is the removal of forests. People cut down, or CLEAR CUT, huge areas of trees at a time to:

Sell the trees for wood, paper, and even toilet paper

Plant large crops for farming

Plant grass for livestock to graze

Build homes and commercial buildings

Make room for mining

Can you believe that more than 150 acres of trees are lost every minute of every day, and 78 million acres are lost every year? Some experts say that at this rate, we could lose the entire rainforest in the next 40 years.

Unfortunately, even though there is a lot of information available about the problem of Deforestation and cutting down forests, it is still being done by communities and large companies worldwide.
