EMISSION CONTROLS: This is a term describing the rules that the government puts on car makers so that their engines give off (emit) less toxic gases into the air. This costs the car makers more money because they have to build their car in a certain way, and most of them don’t want to spend more money, because that means they would make less money when they sold them. The carmakers are very concerned about making the maximum amount of money for their companies. Right now some of the people who run the United States and other countries want those rules (Emission Controls) taken away so it is cheaper for them to make cars. This means the company could make better profits.
