START A PETITION!

A petition is a “call to action” in the form of a document. Petitions are signed by many people and sent to a local or state government, a corporation, or a school.

Petitions describe the issue, offer solutions, and include a list of people who are in agreement. The more signatures on your petition, the more the government office, school, or company will notice.

ACTION:

Choose your “call to action.”

Research as much information as you can about your “call to action.” Facts, statistics, problems, solutions, etc.

Write a compelling paragraph to the person, company, or government office explaining your concerns and the solutions you think should be taken.

Make copies of your petition and with the help of your friends and family, gather signatures. There are online petition sites you can use like Change.org and ipetitions.com. Get as many signatures as possible!

Mail the petition or present it in-person, and wait for a response.
