Lesson #2 – Fascinating Bee Facts

Bees can recognize human faces.

Bees have personalities. Some are timid. Some are thrill seekers. They can get depressed, and definitely stressed out. Bees have feelings!

Bees are super navigators and use the sun as a compass. When it’s cloudy they use special senses to find the sun’s position in the sky.

Bees are super navigator mathematicians. They can calculate the shortest distance between flowers where we have to use a GPS!

Bees are also amazing architects! Not only are honeycombs the most efficient structures in nature, using the least amount of wax, the walls meet at a precise 120-degree angle. A honeycomb is a mass of HEXAGONAL
(six sided) prismatic wax cells. It is a perfect geometric structure.

Honeycombs are built by bees to contain their LARVAE (bee babies) and as a place to store honey and pollen.

Interesting!  I hope this makes you think differently about honey bees and how important they are in our lives.  And oh, of course, how DELICIOUS honey is!
